Submarine Museum in Turkey
A Friends RNSM committee member reports a visit to a submarine museum exhibit which opened last year at Canakkale in the Dardanelles, Turkey. The former USS Thornback (1944 vintage) was transferred to Turkey in 1971 and can now be toured as part of the Naval Museum in Canakkale which has a number of items of naval heritage interest, as well as the submarine which was latterly renamed Ulucalireis (S338) in Turkish service.
