Perisher 50 years on

In January 1975, 6 RN SM CO aspirants were joined in HMS Dolphin by 2 Australians, 2 Canadians, 1 Dutchman and 1 Israeli for COQC 1/75 with Teachers Toby Frere and Rob Forsyth.

On Wednesday 28 May, 5 members of the course – Peter Briggs RAN, Driekus Heij RNLN, Jock McLees, Nick Ferguson and Doug Littlejohns with their wives and partners were joined by the Forsyths for drinks in the museum and dinner onboard Alliance in the forward mess to celebrate the occasion.

It was a doubly poignant occasion for Rob Forsyth who, having passed his own Perisher, was appointed as the penultimate CO of Alliance as his first command.

Thanks were paid to the RNSM museum and to the NMRN which offered the facilities to former submariners at a much reduced rate to acknowledge their service.
