Kylesku Memorial – update
From Tim Honnor
At a recent meeting with the Kylesku Hotel they agreed to re-hang the information boards on Operation SOURCE and to put on show the visitors book of 1943, which has so many names of those involved in the overall planning and execution of the operation. They will also produce a brochure for every hotel guest, about the WWII significance of the hotel and the memorial cairn to the XII Submarine Flotilla, across the Kylesku Bridge. (a short walk from the hotel).

It has been agreed with the Lord Lieutenant of Sutherland that a full commemoration ceremony will take place every five years; the next one will be planned for 22 September 2028. This does not in any way prohibit any individual organisation organising their own ceremony in the years between.
Work is in progress in getting two ‘brown signs’ in place, for those travelling past the site from both the north and south. I am also trying to get the site recognised by North Coast 500, as a place of particular interest.
