Courageous at Barrow 1871
From "PK" Pitkeathly
Parade at Barrow for the ships company from Courageous, just back from Contractors Sea Trials, Churchill was in to receive the trials propulser which was very successful and Swiftsure which was starting to crew up. Taken 15th July 71, there were about 150 on parade. The Admiral was Vice Admiral Ian McGeoch and the Cdr nearest was the C.O of Churchill, but not a clue of his name. Given a make and mend after the event, a great run ashore was had by all.
