Deep Thoughts

Friends of the RN Submarine Museum are delighted to announce the publication of Deep Thoughts – A submariner’s time in rhyme.

Written by David Parry, a former CO and  author of Perisher, 100 years of the submarine command course, and illustrated by Sandy Freeleagus, an Australian submariner, the book celebrates diesel boats and service during the Cold War.  As Admiral Sir Mark Stanhope writes in his foreword: “These poems are not simply recollections; they are windows into a life lived in steel hulls and silent depths, far from the warmth and familiarity of home.”

The book has been supported by BAE and all profits will be shared between the Friends of the RN Submarine Museum and Friends of the Holbrook Submarine Museum in NSW.

The book is also available to pre-order on Amazon for sales in the UK and overseas. The Amazon launch date is 16 March 2026.
