5. For the reasons given in the text, it has not been found possible to construct a fair list of the leading users of the gun, certainly not in order of merit. Nevertheless, in addition to the actions mentioned in the text, we may draw attention to the following.
· Lieutenant RGP Bulkeley (Statesman) sank no less than fortynine small vessels by gunfire and demolition charge, expending 1200 rounds in the process.
· Lieutenant WStG Anderson (Sturdy) sank thirty-thee small vessels but had to break off an attack on an anti-submarine trawler when the return fire became too hot.

· Commander B Bryant (Sealion and P211/Safari) made many gun attacks in the Mediterranean, sinking a brigantine, a Siebel ferry, a ship of 11 76 tons and a tanker of 345 tons as well as two coasters, six schooners and a minesweeping trawler.

Lieutenant RHH Brunner (Terrapin) and Lieutenant Commander E.P.Young (Storm) all had over twenty successful gun actions and many others, especially in the Aegean and in the Far East, did well with their guns.
6. Originally awarded the Empire Gallanry Medal for which the George Cross was subsequently substituted.

One U-boat Hunter went unrewarded as the U-boat were not thought to have been sunk at the time. Lieutenant Commander ANG Campbell of Severn had been killed in action in general service before he could be rewarded for sinking Bianchi. There were also a number of mistakes the other way round, when decorations were given for sinking U-boats, which, in fact, survived.
9. A number of awards were made in Birthday and Honours and at the end of the war to try to redress this imbalance.
